Event Interface Modules

We have a wide range of available Event Interfaces that can communicate with some of the most common fire panels, building management systems and alarm systems found in all sorts of settings from hospitality to healthcare.

Compatible with your existing systems

BlueSky Wireless Event Interface Modules are responsible for receiving data from various data sources and ingesting it into BlueSky Wireless. Data can then be filtered and processed before being dispatched to a Device Interface Module according to a set of rules.

Location Awareness Module

Deliver messages intelligently. Combine the ability to send warnings to a designated group of individuals with location awareness of where these people are and shorter response times. Example – when a critical machine alarm is raised the warning can be sent to the closest member of the response team. Should that person not be available to respond then the system automatically sends the message to the next closest person. This saves travelling time and ensures a faster response.

Building Management System Module

Manage maintenance issues more efficiently. Connect your fault and diagnostic systems to the BlueSky messaging system and ensure the right people receive the right message at the right time. Example – if your air conditioning system develops a fault the messaging system will alert the closest engineer and send diagnostic details so the correct parts can be made available and repairs carried out quickly and effectively. Connection can be made through via smartphone, DeCT, WiFi and SNMP.

Site to Site Connector

Stay connected even when your sites are thousands of miles away. The BlueSky site connector provides routine and emergency messaging between any number of geographically dispersed sites. Example – a remote site has an engineering problem which requires outside help to repair. The BlueSky site to site connector will send warnings directly to the appropriate overseer who can make the appropriate diagnosis and advise on local repair, saving the expense and time of sending in an outside engineer.

Email Input Module

Generate and send email alerts. Using SMTP, Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Notes, messages can be sent to any designated email client. Messages will be transmitted within 500ms but the final delivery time is determined by the internet connection, email server and client. Example – while an alert is usually dealt with locally it may be desirable for managers in other locations to be made aware of the problem. The Email Output module converts warning messages into email alerts and sends them almost instantaneously to a designated manager for information purposes.

Scope Pager Input Module

Communicate directly with your Scope pagers. BlueSky messaging systems can interact with an existing Scope pager system, sending and receiving messages and alerts using alphanumeric characters. Example – your workforce are equipped with Scope pagers which are used to alert them of any problems or to call in for a message. The investment in this technology was considerable and relatively recent. However, there is no need to scrap the pagers; simply install this module and all your communications systems start talking to each other.

Analogue Signal Module

Monitor temperatures remotely. Many industries need to take regular temperature readings on equipment such as fridges, incubators, furnaces and autoclaves or in offices, stores and server facilities. Connected to existing sensors and systems, the Analogue Signal Module Messaging System monitors and sends alarms when needed. Example – Where temperatures need to remain within set parameters the user configures alarm conditions for the module with warnings directed to the most appropriate user, group or escalation group. BlueSky has a wide range of temperature monitoring devices available should new sensors be required.

Serial Input Module

Receive and process signals from RS232/482/422 printer or pager outputs. Signals are processed against a set of rules and where the rules are breached, alarms are generated and sent to the most appropriate responder. Example – Pager data is sent to the serial input module where it can be processed according to a number of pre-determined rules. Messages can be sent to a parallel printer for hard copies or output through serial ports in a variety of protocols or formats to the correct end user.

SNMP Trap Daemon

Reduce unplanned IT down times. Monitor your IT systems day and night. To keep systems full operational there needs to be a protocol to alert IT management of any problems. These alarms and alerts are generally raised from IT systems via SNMP Traps. Example – A Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Trap detects a potential problem and sends an alert via the SNMP Trap Daemon directly to the relevant phone groups, such as IT Support or Engineering, so that correctly trained personnel can respond quickly and efficiently to prevent the problem becoming more serious.

SNMP Trap Relay

Generate an SNMP Trap and relay it to the SNMP Trap Daemon. Configured to react to a Change-of-State (COS) incident the SNMP Trap will monitor events such as overheating, power outages and security breaches and when necessary, send an alert out over the network. Example – The module can be used to generate a Trap for dry relay contacts that could be related to a particular fault. The Trap could then be processed by a service management system to automate maintenance calls and alert potential problems before they become emergencies.

Modbus Module

Take advantage of our serial communications protocol module. Designed to work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and commonly available as a means of connecting industrial electronic devices, the Modbus module is used to interface with various controls systems, SCADA and BMS to generate event and alarm messages. Example – The Modbus module acts as the communicator between a system that measures temperature and humidity and the computer that oversees its operation. It is often used to connect a supervisory computer with a remote terminal unit (RTU) in supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.

OPC Module

Generate event and alarm messages. OPC Data Access is a group of client-server standards that provides specifications for communicating real-time data from data acquisition devices to display and interface devices. The OPC AE module interfaces with various control systems including SCADA and BMS. Example – The OPC module can be used to communicate real-time data from Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to display and interface devices such as Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), SCADA systems and ERP/MES systems. The specifications focus on the continuous communication of data.

UPS Monitor Module

Stop a power out destroying your business. An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) battery is used to protect hardware such as computers, data centres, telecommunication equipment or other electrical equipment, where an unexpected power disruption could cause injuries, fatalities, serious business disruption or data loss. Example – When a UPS battery fails, the main power fails or a fault is signalled, this interface generates a message which can be delivered to a single endpoint, group or escalation set, alerting staff that immediate action is required.

Virtual Teacher Assistant Module

Give teachers the means to call for help. The VTA system can take panic alarm inputs from WiFi handsets, desk sets, call points and Ekahau badges to generate alarm messages for various endpoints. The system will also send messages to DVR/CCTV and audio systems to automatically tag an event. A special variant of the pop-up client is also available to interface to simple IP cameras. Example – When a teacher calls an alarm through a recognised alarm point the Virtual Teacher Assistant Module generates and sends emergency messages to the appropriate personnel. At the same time it will tag it as an event and activate CCTV cameras in the area to display the event on designated screens and record the action as it happens.

Intruder Alarm

Stop intruders in their tracks. The Messaging System can be connected to a security system such as a burglar alarm and configured to deliver warnings to security staff. The Intrusion Detection System can be connected by RS232 to either a printer port or pager output; alternatively information can be disseminated by relay contacts. Example – A fire door alarm is triggered unexpectedly which generates a message to be passed directly to security phone groups for investigation. This immediately alerts trained staff to respond by checking the area, reducing the need for unnecessary evacuations.

Bespoke Application Development

Have we missed something? Is there an application you would like but isn’t covered in the list above? Our very experienced software development team at BlueSky Wireless are able to develop software for any application you can think of. In fact, we challenge you to test us – give us a call to discuss a specific application you need and we guarantee to come up with a solution.

CCTV Commander

Get those cameras rolling. The Messaging System can be connected to a 3rd party CCTV so that staff can trigger the system remotely. Alternatively, various other inputs can be configured to trigger the CCTV system e.g. the Digital I/O from a door relay contact or panic button or RS232 output from an intruder alarm. Example – If a member of staff fears an attack they can activate a panic feature on their WiFi handset to trigger a live CCTV broadcast streamed to the nearest security unit and start automatic recording for evidential purposes.
